At Stannah Lift Services in Gateshead we offer a complete maintenance, breakdown and repair service, based around a range of 3 maintenance contracts designed to suit your every need and budget. All our contracts include regular preventative maintenance visits where our engineers will inspect, clean, lubricate and adjust all lift components. Our emergency breakdown service offers peace of mind through the knowledge that Stannah are available 24 hours a day to put your lift, escalator or moving walkway back into service.
Large refurbishment projects are also part of our portfolio. We can supply bespoke lifts of any size and travel, for most applications. Please call us for details.About us
As part of a nationwide 24/7 service, we manage the safe and efficient operation of lifts, escalators and moving walkways in the North East. Our comprehensive service covers the main cities of Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Durham and everywhere in between.
We operate service, maintenance and repair contracts for all types of lift, including passenger lifts, platform lifts and goods lifts. Our services also include lift refurbishment and modernisations as well as stairlift installations, removals and re-sittings.

John Mowbray – Branch Manager
John joined Stannah in Gateshead in 1985 as a Senior Lift Technician. In 1995 he took on the additional role of a Technician/Tester. John was a Supervisor for ten years, Deputy Branch Manager for two years before taking on the role of Service Manager in 2007, becoming Branch Manager in 2008. He is also the Branch Health & Safety Officer having gained the LEIA Managing Safely qualification. John holds an NVQ Level 4 in Business Management.
Helen Brown – Office Manager
Helen joined Stannah in 1987, straight from school. She began on a short training scheme but was kept on full-time as a Junior Administrator. Helen has been Supervisor for the past six years and has gained her NVQ Level 4 in Administration. Helen has a team of thirteen Administrators.
Derek Bainbridge – Sales Engineer
Derek has been with Stannah since 1988, progressing from Fitter to Technician/Tester. In recent years he has been involved in carrying out the thorough examinations from the Network Rail office. Derek’s current role is Technical Sales Advisor; involving selling lift equipment, ordering parts, site surveys, meeting consultants and clients.
His qualifications include J5-J25 lift modules, City & Guilds in Electronics Servicing, parts 1, 2 and 3, IEE 16th edition ( BS7671) and NVQ Level 4 in Testing and Commissioning lifts.
Iain O'Connor – Field Repair Manager
Iain joined Stannah in November 2004, after twenty-three years at another lift company. He became Supervisor in 2006 and now successfully oversees the Service side of the business at the Branch. He gained an NVQ Level 4 in Testing lifts which enabled him to take on an additional role of testing major modernisations. This is now a large part of his work, as the Gateshead Branch continues to grow this area of their business.
Marc Kelly – Technical Sales Advisor
Marc joined Stannah in 2001 as a Lift Service Engineer. He served his Apprenticeship at Kone Lifts, completing all his modular training. Marc became Technical Sales Advisor in 2006 and has successfully completed the LEIA Managing Safely Award.
Jane Hope – Administrator
Jane joined Stannah in August 2007. She has completed her Business Administration NVQ Level 1 and is working towards achieving Level 2.
Mick Hall – Stock Controller
Mick joined Stannah in March 1999 as a Mate/Storekeeper. He is now in charge of stock control at the Gateshead Branch.
Ian Kettleborough – Field Service Manager
Ian joined Stannah Mansfield Branch in 1994 as an Installer/Service Engineer. He passed his Stairlifts NVQ Level 2 in 2004 and transferred to the Gateshead Branch in 2005 as Stairlift Technician. Ian is now in charge of all Stairlift Engineers at the Branch.
Clare Richardson – Administrator
Clare has been with Stannah since 1993. Whilst with Stannah, Clare has gained her NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Business Administration, Key Skills 2 and NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Customer Service.
Donna Morns - Administrator
In 1997 Donna joined Stannah to cover a maternity leave and never left! Donna has been busy training as part of her role at Stannah gaining NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Business Administration, Key Skills Level 3 and NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service. She is now busy working towards Customer Service Level 3 and, outside of working hours, is working to gain her European Computer Driving Licence.
Karen Jennings – Administrator
Karen joined Stannah in 2002. She gained her job through Access Training, the training company who work closely with the Gateshead Branch. She has completed her Foundation NVQ in Administration and is working towards her NVQ in Advanced Customer Services.

Lift Owners' Information
As a lift owner/operator you are ultimately responsible for the safe operation of your lift. At Stannah Lift Services we aim to provide you with peace of mind by ensuring your equipment is maintained and adheres to all Health & Safety Directives and current legislation.
