At Stannah Lift Services, Scotland, we offer a very wide range of services. We have a team of highly experienced engineers with more than 200 years service in the lift industry between them. Key to our operations is the provision of maintenance, breakdown and repair service 24/7 by our team of experienced lift engineers, for every type of lift from any manufacturer. These service contracts are provided for large commercial companies with lifts on several sites across Scotland, very large portfolios of commercial and domestic lifts for local authorities, and individual domestic customers.
We are pleased to include the MOD, Stirling University, East Ayrshire Council and East Renfrewshire Council amongst our local contracted clients.
We can provide bespoke lifting solutions too; from single products such as step lifts for individual customers through to large commercial lifts with high-rise travel requirements. We often act as principle contractor on a refurbishment site, ensuring we meet and often exceed all Health & Safety standards.About us
As part of a nationwide 24/7 service, we manage the safe and efficient operation of lifts, escalators and moving walkways across the whole of Scotland. Our comprehensive service covers the main cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee and everywhere in between.
We operate service, maintenance and repair contracts for all types of lift including passenger lifts, platform lifts and goods lifts. Our services also include lift refurbishment and modernisation and stairlift installations.
Not just Stannah!
Please remember – we look after lifts from ALL manufacturers, not exclusively Stannah lifts.

Graham Barr – Branch Manager
Graham began his career in the Lift Industry as an Apprentice in 1982 and gained valuable experience in the industry before joining Stannah in 2002 as a Lift Engineer. Later that year he moved into sales and soon moved to be one of the Stannah National Contracts team, looking after the UK national portfolios for a range of key customers. In 2006 Graham moved to the Lift Services Branch in Scotland to take up the role of Business Development Manager where, in addition to his sales role, he oversaw all the commercial aspects of the Branch including Health &Safety, Quality Assurance and Customer Satisfaction. He also managed major accounts in Scotland including Network Rail, National Contracts and local key accounts. Graham was promoted to Branch Manager in December 2008.Graham completed his Diploma in Management at Reid Kerr College in Paisley in February 2009 to add to his NVQ Management Level 3 and IOSH Managing Safely Certificates.
Billy Murdoch – Field Repair Manager
Billy joined Stannah in Glasgow in 2002 but joined the lift industry in 1967 as an Apprentice Lift Engineer. In 1972 he began ten years of field experience in various lift companies before moving to Pretoria, S. Africa, in 1982 where he worked as a Lift Engineer until 1994. On his return to Scotland, Billy continued his career with two more lift companies before joining Stannah. Billy has also completed IOSH Managing Safely. Billy currently looks after all major projects, with his engineering team of five benefiting from his extensive experience in the industry. Billy is also the mentor for all apprentices, which means the engineering future is very much in safe hands for Stannah Lift Services in Scotland.
Phillip Rooney – Technical Sales Engineer
Phillip joined Stannah in 2000 as an Apprentice Lift Engineer and would later become one of the main sources of support even for more experienced engineers such was his ability to absorb and retain information. After a late start, he completed his NVQ Level 3 in 2005 and went on to become a trouble-shooter for the more complex machinery including Escalators and Moving Walkways. His move to his new role in sales in April 2009 was felt as a loss to some customers as he was always very well spoken about at regular contract review meetings, and they looked forward to seeing him. He constantly keeps in touch with his ‘old’ customers to make sure they are still getting the kind of service ‘he used to provide’.
John Paton – Technical Sales Engineer
John is responsible for sales in major repairs, modernisations and new installations in Scotland. He has been a Lift Engineer, predominantly in installations, since completing his apprenticeship in 1986. With many years’ experience within the industry, he joined Stannah in 2003 and has been Senior Engineer on installation sites. John started his new role as Technical Sales Engineer with the Glasgow Branch in August 2009.
Stevie Graham – Field Service Manager
Stevie has experience as a Storeman, Mate, Driver, Stairlift Installer and Service Engineer, Goods Lifts Installer and Engineer, Installer and Maintenance Engineer across a whole range of lifting equipment to help disabled people. He then progressed to become a Passenger Lifts Engineer and, since joining Stannah, Stevie has worked as a Stairlift Installation Supervisor and now looks after all domestic and industrial maintenance and repairs, passing his extensive experience onto his team of fifteen. Stevie has completed IOSH Managing Safely as well as his NVQ Management Level 3.
Jane Brown – Office Manager
Jane has recently received her 10-year Service Award. As Administration Supervisor, Jane looks after a team of administrators whose task is to keep the office running smoothly. Stannah’s Mobile Communications has significantly changed the processes recently, making liaison with engineers out all over Scotland possible on an hour-by-hour basis. Jane is responsible for the monitoring of all jobs, invoicing, credit control, Branch reporting, Network Rail customer liaison and, occasionally, customer complaints. Jane has NVQ Level 3 in Customer Service and an HNC in Management, and became a mum for the second time in 2008.
