Stannah Branch Managers Jump into action to raise money for Mia Fund
Keith Peters, Branch Manager for London & the South East and his brother Jason Peters, Branch Manager for East Anglia at Stannah Lift Services Ltd have completed a bungee jump to raise money for the Mia Fund with the Tree of Hope charity.
On Saturday 11th November, Keith and Jason travelled to Wyboston Lakes in Cambridgeshire where they nervously watched others complete the 160ft bungee jump.
Keith says, “this was the first time either myself or Jason had done anything as adventurous/daring as this and I must admit that I was more than a little anxious but after the anticipation of the build-up, the actual jump itself went very quickly.”
Thanks to the extra pledge by Stannah to match any fundraising this year by 150% to tie in with their 150th anniversary, Keith and Jason have raised a grand total of £4,775.
Tree of Hope is a crowdfunding charity that supports families who are raising money for specialist care for young people with a disability or illness by allowing them to fundraise under the banner of a registered charity, with their very own campaign dedicated solely to benefit their child. The charity also helps to organise and issue direct payments to physio and equipment companies from the funds raised for each individual child.
The money raised by Keith and Jason will go towards the ‘Marvellous Mia’ fund. Mia is Keith’s best man’s daughter who after a complicated delivery suffered a fractured skull at birth which led to a bleed on the brain that left Mia with severe brain damage.
The funds raised from the bungee jump will pay for Mia to have physiotherapy to give her the best chance of improving her future mobility. Some of the money has already been used for physiotherapy to help Mia with the movement of her less-dominant hand.
Keith says that Mia’s father Mat “has been totally overwhelmed by the generosity from all the sponsors and by Stannah’s generous 150% match-funding.”
