About Stannah

A family of lift expertise, we've been moving people and goods since 1867.

Joseph Stannah started the business in Bankside, London, making cranes and hoists to move goods around the bustling docks of the industrial revolution. Today, we are the UK’s leading independent supplier of lift products supplying loading systems, passenger and platform lifts, goods and service lifts, escalators, moving walkways, related lift services and of course, stairlifts. We also manage large lift portfolios for some of the UK’s best known brands, including over a thousand lifts for Network Rail.

Still a family business, it is the fifth generation – Jon, Patrick, Nick, Alastair and Helen – that are hands-on in the company. By remaining a resolutely independent British business we have been quietly successful and at the heart of our work is a simple promise, to be ‘always true to our word’. This reflects the way we go about business, to be ready to meet today’s challenges yet unashamedly focused on the values of quality and service that Joseph was passionate about all those years ago.

Why choose Stannah

Whether we’re talking lifts or stairlifts, escalators or moving walkways, our engineering heritage means we meticulously craft and develop our products to make them the very best in the market.
