Our Midilift vertical wheelchair lifts provide a simple, cost-effective way to help with disabled access

Introducing the latest Midilift range, the PL is a cost-effective and compact platform lift that combines design versatility and intuitive use with easy installation and reliable performance – offering maximum flexibility for any public, commercial or domestic building.

A straightforward and quiet screw and nut drive lift, the Midilift access lift requires no shaft; it’s installed within its own structure, meaning minimal building work and quick installation time. Plus, unlike it's Midilift SL predecessor, it requires no separate cabinet; it's all included within the lift structure.

Our Midilift PL screw-driven lifts have minimal or no pit, and no cabinet, and can be installed indoors or outdoors. With minimal building requirements, a vertical platform lift is perfect for existing building owners looking for a high-quality lift solution to improve access.

As a DDA platform lift, the Midilift range helps to meet the requirements of the Equality Act 2010, Part M of the Building Regulations and Section 4.2 of the Technical Handbook.

With more than 11,000 wheelchair access lifts installed, the Stannah platform lifts have provided easy access for all passengers, wheelchair users and mobility impaired across the UK, from health care and education establishments to retail, offices and public buildings. Regardless of mobility needs, these lifts are also an elegant and cost-effective home-enhancing solution when designing a future-proof home.

With more than 150 years of lift expertise and specialising in disabled access lifts in the UK - you can rely on Stannah.

Frequently asked questions

What is an access lift?

Also known as platform lifts, access lifts provide a safe and convenient means of moving between different building levels for individuals with mobility challenges. Stannah Lifts supplies domestic, commercial and public access lifts, and our sister company, Stannah, helps with mobility in the home.

What speed is an access lift?

Access lifts are governed by the Machinery Directive regulations (not the Lift Directive) which means they are restricted to a speed of 0.15m/s, around 20 seconds per floor.

What is a dda access lift?

A DDA-compliant lift is a wheelchair lift that conforms to the new Equality Act. The act requires all public buildings to have wheelchair access and references Part M or Section 4.2 to give more specific guidance on disabled access lift requirements.

What is the cost of an access lift?

Prices start from £19,000, for our vertical platform lifts, which includes the lift's supply and installation, plus a 2-year maintenance and repair package.

Do access wheelchair lifts need a lift pit?

When designing a building, the main advantage of an access lift is that it requires only a small pit and headroom. A ramp can also be used if it’s impossible to provide a pit

What are the minimum dimensions for a disabled platform lift?

If a lift is going to be used by wheelchair users for public or commercial access – the floor space of a lift needs to accommodate this. Usually, this means a size of at least 1100mm x 1400mm. Home lifts can be made smaller if the size of a wheelchair is known.

What is involved in an access lift installation?

We’ll work with your builder to advise on the necessary preparatory works. Once ready for your lift, our experienced lift installers will attend the site and complete the fitting and handover. As every lift is built to the unique site specification, please tell us about your project as soon as possible.

What’s the typical lead time for this lift?

It’s best to engage with us as early as possible to meet your project delivery dates. The typical lead time for the Midilift PL is faster than our old Stannah Midilift range, but please speak with us for current lead times.

How can I plan an access lift for my commercial project?

If you’re an Architect, we have a range of technical data available to download to help ensure you can fit the right lift into your project or speak to us, and we’ll talk you through the product options.
